Only The Best

A heart of gold stopped beating
two shining eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.

God knows you had to leave us
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day he took you home.

To some you are forgotten
to others just part of the past
but to us who loved and lost you
the memory will always last

To My Baby Sister / Poem written by Jessica's oldest Brother

To My Baby Sister

Your face would brighten my day in ways eternal
I remember you touching my daughter with instincts maternal
Your big brothers will miss you especially your smile and laugh
And we regret your short life’s broken path
But on the bright you’ll never again have to study math
And you will smell of pink roses in your bubble bath
Baby sister never again will you feel the pain of this world
And I know you will watch over my little baby girl
For the gates of heaven open wide for the pure of heart
And everything with an ending also had a start
For the rest of our lives we will remember the times in between
And celebrate your crossing to your memories we will cling

To My Daughter On Mother's Day

A Million Times

A million times we've needed you.
A million times we've cried.
If love alone could've saved you.
You never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place.
No one else will ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you didn't go alone.
Part of us went with you.
The day God took you home.

I'LL LEND YOU A CHILD

angel kiss

I'LL LEND YOU A CHILD

"I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine," He said,
"For you to love the while she lives, and mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her smiles to gladden you, and should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crown life's lanes, I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love, nor count the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to take her back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness. We'll love her while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand."

We Remember Her

We Remember Her

In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
we remember her.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter
we remember her.

In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring
we remember her.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer
we remember her.

In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn
we remember her.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends
we remember her

When we are weary and in need of strength
we remember her.
When we are lost and sick at heart
we remember her.

When we have joys we yearn to share
we remember her.

So long as we live, she too shall live,
for she is now a part of us, as
we remember her.
